Dorks are Cool

BioGardener converted a grassy, neglected backyard area into a cool, colorful, and functional asset to the property.  The existing bermuda was solarized, tilled four times, removed, and replaced without using poisons or other chemicals that might detriment the nearby tributary to Bull Creek in Northwest Austin.

A granite walkway was installed to access a water source and balcony stairway, and was bordered with painted steel.  Native/adapted plants of contrasting height, texture, and color were installed on either side of the walkway, including gulf muhly, Mexican bush sage, pigeonberry, cedar sage, cenizo, Texas betony, African bulbine, Texas mountain laurel, black dalea, Gregg dalea, zexmenia, Mexican oregano, and blackfoot daisy.  Three inches of organic mulch were applied to the planting areas to help prevent weeds and to assist in moisture retention
